I really like the idea of "Waiting on" Wednesday, but I can barely keep track of the books I have scattered about my house and stored on my Nook to participate in this event weekly. And then I thought, HEY! I'm waiting on the Oscars and consuming so many movies right now, in the spirit of "Waiting On" Wednesday, I could do an Oscars Edition. So here is goes!
On Super Bowl Sunday, I posted about how the Oscars is my Super Bowl. In the months leading up to the big event, I train hard. I'm at the locally owned second run theatre at least once a week sometimes twice. I don't mind seeing movies alone. On the 6th, I saw Her alone because the hubby wasn't interested in watching a man fall in love with his computer. Personally, for me, Her was the best romantic movie I've seen in ages.
So below is breakdown of the big nominations. I'll be updating the last column with a Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down, the rating system here at Second Run Reviews, after I see a movie. If I think the movie will win one of the awards for which is has been nominated, I'll bold the award in the middle column. It's going to be a busy few weeks here at Second Run Reviews. The local theatre is showing Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, Captain Phillips, and Philomena. To make this even more difficult, I've got a busy work week ahead and won't have time to catch one of the shows during the week AND the theatre is closing for renovations. I'm hoping, when they reopen on Valentine's Day, Gravity, 12 Years a Slave and Captain Phillips are still playing.
