I really struggled with the relationship in "The Minute" by Aaron Dietz. The character building in this short story was a bit on the weak side. As a result, the romantic stuff that happens feels like that awkward first kiss you see in movies where the two characters involved seem put everybody part in the wrong place. As result, the relationship feels forced and you can't see the true love between them.
