The Sunday Post #23: Week of May 11, 2014

IT'S DONE. The bathroom floor is done and just in time for this weekend company. *breaths a sigh of relief* So my good friend, Erin, and I ripped up the old linoleum, scraped up the paper backing and old adhesive, the cut and laid down the new self-adhesive tile. I had a plumber come in and take up the toilet and then put it back down again. No way I was tackling that on my own! I took the doors off the vanity, put down a rubber mat and carpet remnant so we could slide the litter boxes under there. The final touches are 2 valances that were on clearance at Bed, Bath & Beyond and a tension rod to hide the boxes when company comes over. Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out. It's still exhausting to think about how long it took! Here's the finished room...

I reviewed A Horse Called Trouble by C.K. Volnek. It's a great middle-grade novel about finding your passion and finding love.

• Mashable.com featured a list of 21 Books for Those So Over Dystopian Fiction
• Barnes and Noble listed 16 things they would do if locked in a bookstore overnight. I don't know about you, but I would LOVE to be locked in a bookstore with a coffee shop inside over night.
• The free Sync summer audiobooks kicked off this week with Eion Colfer's WARP: The Reluctant Assassin. I'm a huge fan of Colfer and can't wait to get back to work and my commutes to listen this one!
• NPR posted an excellent article about teen reading.
• BrainPickings.com posted some wonderful minimalist posters of some beloved classic children's stories by Christian Jac.
